Free “$100 Test” Google Spreadsheet for Ranking Group Priorities

This free Google spreadsheet allows groups of people to rank and assign value to a list of competing priorities by spending an imaginary $100 across categories.

By using the concept of cash, the exercise captures more attention and keeps participants more engaged than an arbitrary point or ranking system.

This free Google spreadsheet allows groups of people to rank and assign value to a list of competing priorities.

It’s a simple concept: everyone gets an imaginary $100. They then “spend” their $100 across a list of priorities, goals, or initiatives.

Participants can “spend” the money any way they choose. One person might drop their entire $100 on one goal. Another might spend $5 in 20 different categories.

As noted by Gamestorming, “This game is commonly used in software development for working with users to create their prioritized feature list. However, it can be applied in any situation where a “false scarcity” would help focus a group’s wants and needs. For example, an HR group polling employees about new benefit plans may use the $100 Test to uncover what options would be best received and why.”

Similar to the Heat Map in Google Sheets, the team at Tiller uses the $100 Test to identify team alignment and energy for upcoming projects.

This is great, thank you for posting it. Also, using the Golden Girls for the names in the spreadsheet is what really got me!
