Through a series of viral TikTok videos and national media profiles, writer and producer Jamie Feldman is boldly sharing her struggle with $18,000 in credit card debt.

She’s also sharing her steady progress toward paying it off.

In a recent Time essay, Jamie described the turning point in her journey: confiding in a close friend. “I was convinced she’d see me differently,” Jamie writes. Instead, “she taught me how to stop avoiding the problem.” And she taught Jamie how to use Tiller.

Jamie’s life has transformed since then.

Using Tiller’s spreadsheet budgets, Jamie has taken control of her finances. And she continues to practice accountability by documenting her journey– often hilariously – on TikTok, her newsletter, and podcast.

She’s more intentional with her spending and belongs to a community of people who see beyond her debt.

In a recent NPR profile, Jamie says her goal is not only to be debt-free but also to avoid the negative feeling of overspending.

With the right tools, like Tiller’s spreadsheets, and a supportive community, it’s possible to make real progress away from stress and toward debt freedom.

“Tiller has been a great tool for managing our family’s finances. Having data available in a Google Sheet provides a good base for creating custom reports and tools and some of the community developed extensions, especially the budgeting tools, makes planning much easier.”

“I used Mint for 7 years. I wish I had switched to Tiller much sooner. I have my own Excel budget I incorporated into Mint. It is customized to my needs, and I was worried about porting it to a new program. With Tiller I was able to port it over in 2 hours. I am amazed at the difference in the time savings required to maintain my accounts between Tiller and Mint “

“Tiller helps me understand my finances with two valuable contributions: getting data from many banks into a spreadsheet, and a community of people enthusiastic for helping each other make better financial decisions with spreadsheets. Having all my data in a highly flexible system I control is much more to my liking than Mint and CountAbout.”
