New: Tiller Template Management for Microsoft Excel

Easily install, restore and update Tiller’s official budget, debt, and other templates for Microsoft Excel directly from the Excel add-on sidebar.

Today we’re excited to announce the release of our template insertion capability in the Tiller Money Feeds add-in for Microsoft Excel Desktop.

This feature enables you to effortlessly install, restore, and update Tiller’s official product templates directly from the add-in sidebar in the desktop version of Excel.

Template insertion reduces the tedious manual steps previously required to add new workflows to your Tiller-powered Excel workbook. It also helps fix issues related to accidental edits or bugs.

Initially this feature is only available for the desktop version of Excel. However, we’re currently working on template insertion for Excel Online users.

Install Foundation Template dashboards without leaving Excel

From the Tiller Money Feeds add-in, you can browse default Foundation Template dashboards and sheets in Templates > Tools. These templates include Spending Trends, Monthly Budget, Yearly Budget, Balances, and Accounts.

We’ll be releasing more supported templates including a new debt solution in the coming weeks and months.

Tiller’s commitment to Excel

Template insertion comes as part of Tiller’s commitment to adding features to our Excel offering to reach greater parity with our Google Sheets solution.

We know prebuilt spreadsheet templates and solutions are helpful for quickly gaining insight, control and confidence about your financial future.

Community-built solutions for Microsoft Excel can still be found and manually installed from the Microsoft Excel Show & Tell section in the Tiller Community and in the Tiller Community Template gallery. Community solutions are supported by the Tiller Community.

  1. This sounds exciting, but it lacks any direction about how to get this feature – it’s NOT listed on my foundation worksheet (Excel desktop) in the Tiller Money feeds plugin… I’d love to try out some of the templates I’ve seen.

    I have the same issue.

  3. I had an unresolved submitted issue with the Spending Trend tab where Current Assets, Current Liabilities and Net Worth would not populate. It returns #N/A error. I ran the Spending Trends Restore and nothing has changed.

  4. Hi @mattjksn - this is under the Tools section in the Tiller Money Feeds add-in sidebar. Right now it’s only for the Foundation Template sheets, it won’t allow you to install any Community templates at this time.

@mdoz11 @brehm035 can you share a screenshot of what you’re seeing there?

@tjones4852 if the restore it not working to address your issue it means the issue is in one of the other sheets (e.g. a header is missing in row 1 in the Categories or Transactions sheet) or you have incorrectly formatted data in one of those sheets. The restore will only fix issues that were caused by direct edits to the sheet you’re restoring.

  5. I did not see a RESTORE for FOUNDATION itself. Is that correct
